This Is What Being an Iron Tiger Looks Like

As we wind down for the end of 2025, with Lake Haven and PCYC comps finishing up and Terrigal taking a short break, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the little things we’ve seen across our teams this season.

These small behaviours might not show up on a scoresheet, but they say a lot about who we are and what we value as a club:
• High five the free throw shooter — every time, both teams. It’s a small act of respect that says a lot.
• Sprint to the bench during timeouts — your coach has 60 seconds to talk, reset, and send you back out there.
• If a player falls down — help them up.
• If you’re on the bench — stay with your team, not with your parents.
• Don’t walk on defence — hustle back, every possession counts.
• Don’t drop your head after a mistake — move on to the next play.
• Play team basketball — create advantages, find open teammates, move the ball early and often.
• Avoid trash talk — we don’t have time for it, and it’s not who we are.
• Don’t complain to referees — it won’t change the call, and how you react says a lot about you.

We don’t want superstars. We want teammates. The ones who make others better. That’s what lifts the standard for everyone.

Parents — if you can, please talk to your kids about these behaviours. And when you see them in action, praise it. The more we celebrate the right habits, the more they stick.

Thanks for being part of it all.
