Courtside and Game Day Expectations

25 Nov by Matt Shorrock

We want to make sure every Iron Tigers team has the right environment to learn, compete and enjoy the game. Here are a few reminders for all families that help make things run smoother on game days:

1. RSVP and Score Bench Duty
Please take the time each week to rsvp to games- yes OR no. We have had many weeks with many teams not know if we will have a full team leading into game night. Please be show your coach and team manager the courtesy of a reply. Each team will have someone rostered on score bench. Your manager will either create a roster or call for volunteers. If it is your turn and you cannot make it, please arrange a swap with another parent ahead of time. It is a small responsibility that helps the whole competition run smoothly.

2. Uniform Standards
Players must wear the full Iron Tigers playing uniform, including shorts.
Please do not wear shorts from other clubs or associations.
Make sure you are wearing the correct colour side to match the singlet. If the opposing team is wearing black, switch to white.
Remove all watches, jewellery and earrings before tip off.

3. Respect for Officials and Staff
Referees and venue staff are essential to the game.
Please show respect, follow directions and remember that without officials and organisers there is no competition to play in.

4. Support the Game the Right Way
Cheer for every player on the floor.
Celebrate hustle, defence, teamwork and effort, not just scoring.
Play and support in the right spirit, and never talk down to opposing players.

5. Parents: Let Coaches Coach
Our coaches are employed to teach and guide your athletes. Side-line coaching, even when well-intentioned, cuts across the message and undermines the relationship the coach is building with the team. Encouragement is welcome; instructions are not.

6. Bench Rules
The red seats at Terrigal, and the seats next to the score bench at all other venues, are for players and coaches only. Parents and spectators must not sit on the team bench.
Players should remain with their team at all times, not in the stands with friends or family when they are not on the court.
